Christmas in Storyland

The stars of CBeebies sing, dance and dress up for a magical Christmas adventure in the enchanting world of Storyland, with funny elves, musical sea creatures and a yodelling yeti.

It’s Christmas Eve in Storyland and everyone is getting ready for the big day. Christmas means a busy time for elves. Jiffy, the Big Boss Elf, is on the search for Dillydally, the Delivery Elf, but he’s late, and Jiffy needs him back so they can double-check that everyone’s got everything they need for another perfect Christmas in Storyland.

In order to check that everyone has received their Christmas deliveries, Jiffy and Dillydally sing ‘Stocking Up Your Stocking’. But oh dear, Dillydally has forgotten to deliver Christmas to the Empress of Storyland. In a panic, Jiffy loads up Dillydally’s giant stocking with everything the Empress has ordered: lights, snow, a tree and Christmas crackers. Jiffy sends Dillydally off to make his urgent Christmas delivery with a reminder to be ‘Quick Quick, Quickety Quick’.

Dillydally soon learns that the journey to the Empress’s palace will not go quite as he planned. Taking a short cut past the School under the Ocean, Dillydally meets a host of musical sea creatures, including a saxophone-playing Manta Ray, and joins them for a quick boogie. Soon the pupils are frozen in their tracks by their teacher, Professor Lobster. Jelly Jellyfish warns Dillydally to watch out - Professor Lobster can get a bit crabby sometimes! Dillydally learns that the pupils would love a Christmas disco and they even hope it will give their teacher a well-earned break.

Professor Lobster reminds the class they have a bit of catching up to do this year, and they can’t have a Christmas disco without lights. Dillydally realises he’s got something stocked in his stocking that might help: Christmas Lights! The band strike up and Jelly Jellyfish sings ‘Christmas Lights’. Jiffy arrives and reminds Dillydally he shouldn’t be dilly-dallying as he’s got a Christmas delivery to make to the Empress of Storyland.

Further along the way, Dillydally is interrupted by the sounds of trumpets coming from the Castles on Clouds. Up in the clouds, Dillydally meets a Prince and Princess who are trying to deliver a Christmas cake to their Grand Old Gramps the King and Grand Old Gran the Queen, who live far away on a neighbouring cloud. The Princess eagerly shows off her new invention: The Cake-a-Pulter. When the Princess and Grand Old Gramps sing ‘Wish You Were Here’, Dillydally learns that the Prince and Princess have tried all sorts of ways to deliver a Christmas cake to their grandparents. Wishing he could help them, Dillydally realises his stocking is stocked up with stuff to help. The helpful elf pulls out the Christmas tree and makes a bridge between the two clouds.

Sent on his way again by Jiffy, Dillydally is determined he will dilly-dally no more; but reaching the top of a rainbow, he comes to a halt at a stop sign. Up ahead, two Space Protectors are hard at work looking after the planets and making the stars shine. Dillydally watches on as the Space Protectors do a funny dance trying to help the stars twinkle again, but nothing seems to be working. The helpful elf suggests that maybe the stars aren’t twinkling because they’re sad, and once again Dillydally thinks he may have something stocked in his stocking that can help – Christmas crackers!

Getting closer to the Empress of Storyland’s palace, Dillydally hears something coming from the top of the misty mountains and decides one last stop can’t hurt. At the top of the mountain, Dillydally meets a yodelling Yeti and learns how to say Happy Christmas in Yeti all thanks to Yeti’s song called ‘Yeti Yodel Hoo’. After the song, Dillydally finds out that Yeti is missing his snow friends. Dillydally knows he can use the last thing he’s got left in his stocking to help, but he really needs to deliver the snow to the Empress of Storyland. In a flurry of snow, Yeti’s friends Icicle and Snowflake reappear and everyone enjoys singing together once more. But Dillydally has still got an important job to do, and there is no time to lose, so Jiffy takes the elf to the palace herself.

At the palace, Jiffy finally discovers that there is nothing left in Dillydally’s stocking to deliver to the Empress. In a panic, Jiffy suggests that they use their magic elf hats to tinkle their way out of the tricky situation, but it’s too late. The elves fear the worst as the Empress asks, 'Where’s my Christmas?' But brave Dillydally tells the Empress the story of where all her Christmas delivery has ended up. The Empress declares that Dillydally has delivered a story of the happiest Christmas in Storyland: he’s delivered, fun, friendship and kindness. As the Empress sings 'Stocking Up Your Stocking with Love’, everyone in Storyland comes together to celebrate.

At the end of the song, a little girl tucks her toy yeti and lobster into bed, tells her gran she loves her and with a final ‘yeti yodel’ falls asleep ready for Christmas Day.
