Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Sly5thAve is Cerys' guest this month.
Sylvester Uzoma Oneyjiake II aka Sly5thAve was born in Austin, Texas, US. Sly5thAve moved to Pflugerville – a suburb just outside of Austin – when he was just a child. His father was from Nigeria and his mother was from Detroit.
Together they exposed him to a mixture of West African music, soul and jazz. This inspired him and his passion to play music started at a young age which led to formal training at University. This led to Grammy nominations, being scouted by Prince for his saxophone playing, and finding himself in the elite horn section of the New Power Generation band. In 2017 the multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer released his most impressive album to date - The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute to Dr Dre.
