Ann-Katrin Berger on using her platform to inspire

Berger wants to inspire others as she continues her recovery from cancer for a second time

Germany and Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger says she wants to use her high-profile platform to inspire others as she continues her recovery from thyroid cancer for a second time.

Berger, 32, has been a part of Chelsea's last three successive Women's Super League title wins and was part of the Germany team which reached the European Championship final in 2022.

She is also one of three goalkeepers nominated for a FIFA Best award.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a topic that nobody likes to talk about it and in my position, I think I can help people with it,鈥 Berger told Sportsworld.

鈥淥bviously I鈥檓 not sitting here and saying that everything was easy and perfect, because it is not for sure but, I think sometimes also really helps for other people in the same position.

鈥淲hatever your main focus is, and mine was football, you can achieve everything that you want to. That鈥檚 why I think it鈥檚 really important for me to be open and talk about it to help other people because I did it so why can鈥檛 everyone else do it?鈥
