Martin Luther King III: ‘Many of the statues need to come down’

Martin Luther King III, son of the civil rights protester Martin Luther King Jr, says many statues “do need to come down, but I think there is a political process and method for it to happen.”

Speaking to 5 live’s Emma Barnett, he said the “bent of the life of a person” should be considered before any effigies are removed, but that “we need unifying statues that represent all of the people, not just one part of the population”.
