New slaughter laws are 'an attack on our religion'

Belgium has introduced restrictions on religious slaughter methods, meaning animals now have to be stunned.

For many this is purely an animal welfare issue, but some Jews and Muslims see it as an assault on religious freedom and an anti-immigration measure pushed by right-wing nationalists.

Musa, a Muslim slaughterer in Flanders; Nathan Zefaty, who owns the Kosher King butcher's shop in Antwerp; and Rabbi David Schamal give their reaction to the new rules.
