Kibera in Nairobi is often associated with overcrowding, poverty and a lack of sanitation. But David Papaya Kwei has managed to earn a decent living by challenging macho male stereotypes and carving out a career as a beautician.

He studied at beauty college in Mombasa in 2009 and is popular with his clientele - one customer even says she prefers David to the female beauticians because she feels they are more competitive about how they look.
