Composed when Mendelssohn was just 22 on a visit to Munich. He was the soloist at the first performance in October 1831.

Composed when Mendelssohn was just 22 on a visit to Munich. He was the soloist at the first performance in October 1831.
This Concerto has no cadenzas and yet, it does not need any since the piano is used throughout to display the technique of the pianist. Franz Liszt, the most famous virtuoso of the day and an admirer of Mendelssohn, played it often.
