Moorabbin West Cricket Club, nestled in the south eastern suburbs of the Australian city, don't usually have a great deal to shout about, but they made a few headlines when they announced the signing of Fiji's star batsman.

His name is Makutu Seru and the deal is the first step in a partnership between Moorabbin and Cricket Fiji to help nurture some of the pacific island nation's most promising players.

Moorabbin West President, Brent Shaw, told Stumped how the move to sign Seru came about.
