Marine biologist Nan Hauser was underwater when the whale picked her up and carried her on its back for ten minutes. 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 know why til I saw a giant tiger shark,鈥� she says. Whales are known to protect other animals from shark attack, but Nan, who has been studying humpbacks for 28 years, has never known one to help a human in this way.
