Will the US keep its promise to Afghan interpreters?
The US State Department announced that it will only issue 1,500 visas this year for Afghan translators and interpreters who assisted the US military in its war in Afghanistan. That’s less than half the number typically issued. And now there’s none left.
Matt Zeller, a former US army captain, and Ajmal Faqiri, a former Afghan translator, explain what the relationship between soldiers and interpreters is really like.
