Russian deputy PM: US photographs 'faked'

Russia's deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich has told the Today programme that the US satellite imagery that appeared to show Russian military involvement in eastern Ukraine was "faked".

Mr Dvorkovich told Mishal Husain: "Ukraine is Russia's neighbour and historically a very close country to us".

"Russia is accused of intervening in internal Ukrainian affairs and it's not true. We are trying to make sure that those people are protected and to preserve their rights. We need a peaceful Ukraine. We don't need conflict at our border".

"We know many examples where photographs that are shown by our US partners were faked".
