Shaun is live from Salford this week and has a chat with Seasick Steve in the final hour about Steve鈥檚 9th studio album, Can U Cook? which sees Steve mixing up all of his much loved ingredients to deliver a fresh new record that鈥檚 full of sunshine as well as being a good ol' Seasick mix of boogie, blues, rock, Americana and folk music. The title track sees Steve serve up wise relationship advice with dirty guitars, big drums and a growling vocal in an infectious and electrifying Seasick Steve groove.

Produced and written by Steve, Can U Cook? was mostly recorded in a converted ice house on the dock in Key West, Florida with his longtime drummer Dan Magnusson a.k.a. Crazy Dan (鈥渢he guy鈥檚 dangerous but he's a nice fella, he鈥檚 just a little bit loopy鈥�) and guitarist Luther Dickinson of The North Mississippi Allstars, and ex of The Black Crowes (鈥溾��the greatest living slide guitar player 鈥� he鈥檚 crazy too, he fits right in鈥�). Dickinson is now part of the touring band for the forthcoming tour dates. When asked 鈥榳hy Florida?鈥� Steve explains, 鈥淩ight at the harbor is where the actual studio was. There鈥檚 the boats, and there鈥檚 a place called Conch Republic, which is a restaurant. We could throw a rock from the studio into that place. And the studio鈥檚 an old icehouse - the boats would come in to collect ice to keep the keep shrimp cold. And then Jimmy Buffett, in the 80鈥檚, made it into a studio, and it鈥檚 right there on the harbor鈥�.
