With songs including 鈥楽ometimes I feel like a motherless child鈥� and 鈥楴obody knows the trouble I鈥檝e seen鈥�, they trace this powerful music from its colonial origins through to jazz standards and homages by Black composers including Florence Price and Harry T. Burleigh.
