Mun tachartas seo

Helen Grimes’ virtuosic, high energy and expressively nuanced Limina is the perfect opening to this afternoon concert, featuring the works of three living composers, conducted by the masterful Catherine Larsen-Maguire.

Michael Zev Gordon’s Violin Concerto personifies the perfect blend between tradition and unfamiliar sound worlds, with the oscillation of struggle and release forming a satisfying recurring narrative. First performed by violinist Carolin Widmann in 2017, the violin’s voice explores paths less travelled, along with the singing quality of the instrument which Carolin is so passionate about. Taking centre stage in this concert though, is the world premiere of Alexander Goehr’s The Master Said, performed by the eminently talented Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones.
